Japanese architect. Born 1941. Winner of Pritzker Prize 2013. Designed “Sound Cube for Raiding” as part of Raiding Project exhibition.
I think Japanese students are well informed, and they are good researchers. However, they don’t have a clue about their own philosophy and what they stand for. If they want to perform on a global level, they must have a clearer picture of why they are designing and for whom. They should work with their whole body. Ideas straight from the brain can change in a couple of days. But ideas from the heart will last a lifetime.
